- PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
➢ MC-EP Primer is a two-component epoxy-based primer that enhances corrosion protection and improves adhesion for MC flooring and coating systems.
➢ The product has excellent adhesion to almost all surfaces including wood, concrete, steel, etc., and strong adhesion between concrete and the subsequent coating.
- PRODUCT PROPERTIES:
➢ Tolerant to application over manually prepared surfaces.
➢ Formulated for use with MC flooring and coating systems.
- PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS:
| Packaging | MC-EP Primer: 17.5kg/pack; MC-Thinner EP (solvent): 5l/can. |
| Shelf-life & Storage | MC-EP Primer has a shelf life of 12 months, and MC-Thinner EP also has a shelf life of 12 months if stored in a dry place in its original, unopened packaging. |
| Precautions Health & Safety | MC-EP Primer and MC-Thinner EP should not come in contact with skin or eyes, or be swallowed. Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid inhalation of vapours. Some people are sensitive to resins, hardeners and solvents. Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye protection.
If working in confined areas, suitable respiratory equipment must be used. The use of barrier creams provide additional skin protection. In case of contact with skin, rinse with plenty of clean water, then cleanse with soap and water. In case of skin contact with MC-EP Primer, remove immediately with resin removing cream followed by washing with soap and water. Do not use solvent. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately – do not induce vomiting. |

- INSTRUCTIONS TO USE:
➢ Surface preparation:
– The surface must be completely clean and dry, free from oil, grease, dirt, and any other contaminants.
– Concrete and cement-based substrates must be at least 28 days old, with a surface moisture content not exceeding 5%.
– The surface must be mechanically ground or sandblasted to remove cement mortar and other impurities.
➢ Application:
– MC-EP Primer is suitable for application by brush or roller.
– Multiple coats may be required in cases of highly absorbent substrates.
– For enclosed areas, ensure adequate ventilation with clean air throughout the application process to aid solvent evaporation.
➢ Application conditions:
– MC-EP Primer application should be carried out immediately after surface preparation is complete, while the surface is still dry.
– In conditions of high air humidity (80-85%), good ventilation is mandatory.
➢ Application limitations:
– Do not apply MC-EP Primer when the substrate temperature is below 8°C or when the temperature is trending downwards.
– In case of doubt regarding temperature or application conditions, consult your local MC office before proceeding.
